How to Connect Strava to Fitbod (iOS)
Before you begin, make sure you have:
- A Strava account (sign up in the Strava app or at strava.com)
- The Fitbod app installed on an iOS device
Steps to Connect
- Open the Fitbod iOS app.
- Tap the Log tab.
- Tap the Settings icon (top right).
- Scroll down to Connected Apps.
- Select Strava.
- Tap Connect with Strava.
- Log in to your Strava account.
- Choose the permissions you want to allow (e.g., upload activities).
- Select whether to sync the last 7 days of Strava activity.
Once connected, you can:
- Post your Fitbod workouts to Strava after completing a session
- Import Strava cardio workouts into Fitbod to help inform muscle recovery
⚠️ Important Note: Strava workouts must be set to Public for Fitbod to import them. Fitbod uses Strava's API to import your activities, which only provides access to public activities. If your activities are set to "Only Me" or "Followers Only," Fitbod won't be able to see or import them.
How Fitbod Uses Strava Data
Fitbod pulls in your Strava cardio workouts (runs, rides, etc.) and factors them into:
- Add these sessions to your workout log as Fitbod exercises
- Update your recovery tab, adjusting muscle recovery based on cardio effort
Fitbod uses your Strava activity data, including distance, duration, and elevation, to fine tune your recommendations and better adapt to your overall routine.
Supported Strava Activity Types
When connected, the following Strava activity types will import into Fitbod:
- Running
- Virtual Run
- Walking
- Cycling (Ride)
- Virtual Ride
- E-Bike Ride
- Elliptical
- Rowing
- Hiking
- Stair Stepper
- Swimming
Activities such as Canoeing, Ice Skating, Kayaking, Rock Climbing, Yoga and similar types aren’t currently supported by Fitbod’s algorithm and won’t appear in your Fitbod log.
Using Strava with Apple Health
If you have both Strava and Apple Health connected to Fitbod, it's important to understand how they interact. Fitbod filters out workouts in Apple Health that were written by Strava. This prevents the same workout from being imported twice. If you use a third-party app that syncs to Apple Health through Strava, the workout will appear in Apple Health with "Strava" as the source and Fitbod will filter it out.
To make sure these workouts import into Fitbod, either:
Make the activity public in Strava so Fitbod can import it through the Strava connection
Connect the app directly to Apple Health so the workout appears with the original app as the source
FAQ
Why aren’t my Strava workouts showing in Fitbod?
If your supported Strava activities aren’t showing in Fitbod:
- Make sure your workouts are set to public visibility in Strava. Fitbod can only import public activities.
- Check that your activity type is one of the supported types listed above.
- If your workouts come from another app, make sure the activities are public in Strava, or connect that app directly to Apple Health as an alternative.
- Try disconnecting Strava from Fitbod in Settings → Connected Apps, then reconnecting by following the steps in "How to Connect Strava to Fitbod".
Why is my Fitbod workout showing the wrong time in Strava?
This can happen if your device’s timezone doesn’t match your Strava profile’s timezone.
To address this:
- Go to Strava Settings → My Account → Display Preferences → Timezone.
- Set your Strava profile’s timezone to match your current device timezone.
- For past workouts, edit the activity time directly on strava.com with your desktop by selecting the workout and clicking Edit.
